Palm springs, California - A very hot commission!

A few weeks ago I flew out to California for a commission to photograph the production of Dates in Palm Springs.  The first thing that hit me upon leaving the airport was the heat...105 degrees!  eek! I met up with food writer, Neil Davey and trip organiser, the lovely Christian Vaughan who had expertly put the trip together.  We picked up our huge limo-style SUV and took a 2 hour drive out to Palm Springs, eventually checking into our hotel, the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells, just beyond Palm Springs, more into the Coachella Valley region.  We were to meet date farm owner Greg Raumin and his lovely wife, Heather, for a tour of the area and the date farms.  We worked hard on the first day but the following morning, i really wanted to capture the sunrise over the desert as i'd been told it was the best time of day so everyone got up at 4.30am for an early start.  it was worth it i think although it took a while for the sun to rise and for me to be able to capture the mood in the pictures i initially intended.  Here are a a few of my favourite pictures.  They are to be published in 2016 in Sainsbury's Magazine.
